Registered Nurse (Emergency Unit)

Patients in this private hospital surgical ward in Mossel Bay count on your clinical judgement every single shift. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll be based at a private hospital surgical ward in Mossel Bay. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Supervise enrolled nurses and nursing assistants on your side of the ward
• Admit and discharge patients and explain medication and follow-up to families
• Give scheduled medication, including Schedule 5 and 6 drugs, and sign the register
• Take handover at the bedside and plan care for your allocated patients
• Report adverse events and near misses on the incident system the same day

• Solid knowledge of medication safety and the Nursing Act scope of practice
• Calm under pressure when a patient's condition turns quickly
• You can work 12-hour day or night shifts, weekends and public holidays
• At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
• Current SANC registration as a Professional Nurse, with this year's annual fees paid

• Post-basic qualification in critical care, theatre or advanced midwifery
• Unit manager or shift leader experience
• Dispensing licence (Section 22A(15)) for clinic posts

• Night-shift and weekend allowances on top of basic pay
• Study support for post-basic specialities
• Medical aid and pension fund contributions after probation
• Paid SANC annual fees at some groups
