Job Description

Retail in Randburg runs on thin margins, and a retail distribution centre needs someone guarding its stock. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Randburg, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What your day looks like

Review CCTV footage to confirm suspected theft
Detain suspects lawfully and call SAPS, then write a statement
Walk the floor in plain clothes and watch for shoplifting behaviour
Attend court as a witness when a case goes to trial
Record every incident with photos, times and value of goods
Share trends with the store manager each week
Check receiving bay deliveries against invoices and seal numbers

What you need

Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4
PSIRA registration, Grade C at least
Discreet, observant and honest
Able to handle confrontation calmly
Knowledge of lawful arrest and search under the Criminal Procedure Act

Extra points for

Previous store detective experience with case outcomes
Retail loss prevention course
Experience giving evidence in court
