Job Description

You'll keep machines, conveyors and shafts running at the gold mine shaft complex near Boksburg. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is Boksburg-based, with most of your time spent at a gold mine shaft complex.

What your day looks like

Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages
Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
Order spares and track them through the engineering store

Must-haves

Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
