Rigger (Shaft & Headgear)

You'll keep machines, conveyors and shafts running at the iron ore mine maintenance workshop near Burgersfort. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The work is in Burgersfort, Limpopo, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
• Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
• Guide and teach an artisan assistant on the job
• Order spares and track them through the engineering store
• Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface

• Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
• Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
• Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
• Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
• Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits

• Flameproof equipment training for coal mines
• Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress
• SAP PM module experience

• Artisan allowance on top of basic pay
• Housing support in the mining town
• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox

• State your trade and the machines or equipment you know best, for example "fitter: conveyors, crushers and pumps".
• Your trade test certificate must show the trade and the date. Keep a certified copy ready because mines verify it.
