When production stops, the artisans get it going again. The platinum mine engineering department near Centurion needs you on that team. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a platinum mine engineering department on the Centurion side of Gauteng. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
• Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure
• Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface
• Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages
• Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
• Guide and teach an artisan assistant on the job
• Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles

• Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
• Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
• Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine

• Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress
• Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM
• Flameproof equipment training for coal mines

• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox
• Study assistance for engineering qualifications
• Artisan allowance on top of basic pay
• Housing support in the mining town

• Your trade test certificate must show the trade and the date. Keep a certified copy ready because mines verify it.
• State your trade and the machines or equipment you know best, for example "fitter: conveyors, crushers and pumps".
