Roller Operator (Layerworks)

Real machine hours on real projects, with the bulk earthworks contractor working in and around Rustenburg. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

The work is in Rustenburg, North West, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Grease the machine daily and report leaks or damage straight away
• Watch for underground services and follow the banksman's signals
• Cut and trim road layers to level with the grader
• Record machine hours and fuel on the daily plant sheet
• Dig trenches for pipes and cables to the depth and grade set by the surveyor
• Backfill and compact around pipes in layers

• Valid Code 10 licence for moving machines on public roads
• At least 2 years operating the machine on construction sites
• Good depth perception and no history of machine accidents
• Medical certificate of fitness for operating mobile plant

• PrDP for tipper or lowbed work
• GPS machine control experience on excavators or graders

• Travel home paid at the end of each site shift cycle
• Overtime paid on all hours past 45 a week
• Camp accommodation or a living-out allowance on remote sites

• List each machine with its size, for example "20-ton excavator, 4 years". Plant managers match you to the machine they need.
• Put your operator certificate numbers on the CV. Site safety files need them before you start.
