Route Planner (Last-Mile Deliveries) – Experienced

You'll plan the loads and watch the trucks for a bus and coach operator in Pretoria West, keeping every trip on time. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a bus and coach operator on the Pretoria West side of Gauteng. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries
• Update customers on delivery times and delays
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics

• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Matric
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• Good with Excel and email
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office

• Logistics or supply chain certificate
• Transport management system (TMS) experience

• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Growth to transport manager
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts

• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
• Mention the tracking and Excel skills you have. Bring an example report if you are allowed to share one.
