Route Planner (Last-Mile Deliveries)

Trucks, drivers, loads and deadlines all meet on your screen at a road freight company in Vanderbijlpark. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is in Vanderbijlpark (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries
• Update customers on delivery times and delays
• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics

• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong
• Matric
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Good with Excel and email

• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform
• Knowledge of cross-border documentation

• Growth to transport manager
• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts

• Mention the tracking and Excel skills you have. Bring an example report if you are allowed to share one.
• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
