Safety Coordinator (Processing Plant)

Plan inspections, lead investigations and build a safer shift culture at the mining contractor on a platinum lease near Ermelo. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at a mining contractor on a platinum lease in Ermelo. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Inspect workplaces underground and on surface against the MHSA and the mine's standards
• Lead incident investigations using a root cause method
• Help run emergency drills and check refuge bays
• Keep legal appointments and code of practice records current
• Track safety statistics like LTIFR and report them each month
• Review baseline and issue-based risk assessments with section managers
• Prepare for inspections by the mine inspector and follow up on instructions

• Detailed knowledge of the MHSA and its regulations
• Certificate of fitness to go underground or into the pit
• Code 08 licence for moving around the mine property
• Confident writing investigation reports and presenting findings
• At least 3 years in a safety role at a mine

• Standby allowance for incident call-outs
• CPD and further study funded
• Retirement fund and medical aid
• Company vehicle on site

• Give numbers: how many investigations you led, or how the LTIFR changed in your section.
• Mention the commodity and whether you worked underground. Mines prefer someone who knows their hazards.
