Safety Coordinator (Processing Plant) – Immediate Start

The mineral processing plant near Fourways needs someone who knows the MHSA inside out and can coach crews. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a mineral processing plant in Fourways. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Train safety representatives and support the health and safety committee
• Help run emergency drills and check refuge bays
• Prepare for inspections by the mine inspector and follow up on instructions
• Keep legal appointments and code of practice records current
• Take dust, noise and heat measurements with the occupational hygiene team
• Lead incident investigations using a root cause method
• Track safety statistics like LTIFR and report them each month

• SAMTRAC or an MQA-accredited mine safety qualification
• Code 08 licence for moving around the mine property
• Detailed knowledge of the MHSA and its regulations
• Confident writing investigation reports and presenting findings
• Certificate of fitness to go underground or into the pit
• At least 3 years in a safety role at a mine

• Mine rescue training
• Occupational hygiene registration with the relevant council

• Company vehicle on site
• Retirement fund and medical aid
• CPD and further study funded

• Show your mining sector safety experience clearly. Construction-only safety CVs are often moved to the no pile.
• Give numbers: how many investigations you led, or how the LTIFR changed in your section.
