Safety Coordinator (Processing Plant)

The mining contractor on a platinum lease near Kathu needs someone who knows the MHSA inside out and can coach crews. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is in Kathu (Northern Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Check that crews do planned task observations and pre-shift checks
• Keep legal appointments and code of practice records current
• Lead incident investigations using a root cause method
• Track safety statistics like LTIFR and report them each month
• Prepare for inspections by the mine inspector and follow up on instructions

• Certificate of fitness to go underground or into the pit
• Registered with SAIOSH, or working toward it
• At least 3 years in a safety role at a mine
• Code 08 licence for moving around the mine property
• SAMTRAC or an MQA-accredited mine safety qualification

• Occupational hygiene registration with the relevant council
• ISO 45001 auditing experience
• Diploma or degree in Safety Management or Environmental Health

• CPD and further study funded
• Company vehicle on site
• Retirement fund and medical aid
• Standby allowance for incident call-outs

• Mention the commodity and whether you worked underground. Mines prefer someone who knows their hazards.
• Give numbers: how many investigations you led, or how the LTIFR changed in your section.
