Job Description

Zero harm needs people who go into the workings. This mining contractor on a platinum lease near Middelburg (MP) needs you. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Home base is a mining contractor on a platinum lease on the Middelburg (MP) side of Mpumalanga.

What you'll actually do

Keep legal appointments and code of practice records current
Prepare for inspections by the mine inspector and follow up on instructions
Inspect workplaces underground and on surface against the MHSA and the mine's standards
Review baseline and issue-based risk assessments with section managers
Check that crews do planned task observations and pre-shift checks
Train safety representatives and support the health and safety committee

Must-haves

SAMTRAC or an MQA-accredited mine safety qualification
Code 08 licence for moving around the mine property
Detailed knowledge of the MHSA and its regulations
Certificate of fitness to go underground or into the pit
At least 3 years in a safety role at a mine

Nice if you have

Mine rescue training
Occupational hygiene registration with the relevant council
