Sawmill General Worker – Permanent

You'll plant, prune and fell trees for a pine plantation in the hills near eMalahleni. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll report in eMalahleni. Relocation is not covered for this one.

• Clear and maintain firebreaks during the dry season
• Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw
• Wear chainsaw chaps, helmets and ear protection at all times
• Stack logs by length for loading onto trucks
• Feed logs into sawmill machines and stack planks
• Prune lower branches with pruning saws and ladders
• Sharpen and service chainsaws daily

• Follows safety rules strictly around machines and fires
• Passes the medical check for fire crews
• Available for early starts and fire-season standby
• Valid ID

• Fire fighting training

• Say you are fit and do not mind remote sites. Many applicants drop out after the first week, so recruiters test commitment.
