Job Description

Hard, outdoor work on a fire protection association near Pinetown, with training on chainsaws and fire safety. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Home base is a fire protection association on the Pinetown side of KwaZulu-Natal.

The work, day to day

Plant seedlings in prepared pits at the right spacing
Stack logs by length for loading onto trucks
Sharpen and service chainsaws daily
Apply herbicide around young trees as instructed
Feed logs into sawmill machines and stack planks
Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw

You'll need

Physically strong and fit for steep slopes
Able to work in a crew and follow the crew leader
Follows safety rules strictly around machines and fires
Valid ID
Willing to work in remote areas

Nice if you have

Fire fighting training
First-aid training
