Security Area Manager (Night Rounds)

Officers look to you on every shift at a mining operation in Sandton. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The site is in Sandton; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Plan the monthly roster to stay within legal working hours
• Post officers when the shift changes over and cover no-shows
• Meet the client weekly on security concerns
• Handle discipline issues fairly and keep written records
• Check that PSIRA registrations of staff on site are current
• Order and issue uniform, radios and torches
• Do surprise night visits to check posts

• At least 3 years in security, including 1 as a supervisor
• PSIRA Grade B (Grade A for area manager posts)
• Valid Code 8 licence and willing to drive between sites
• Available after hours for emergencies

• Company vehicle or car allowance on area roles
• Management training for growth to operations manager
• Provident fund and funeral cover

• Say how many officers you supervised and on which sites. The number matters more than the title.
• Mention how you handled absenteeism or roster gaps. It is the biggest daily headache for security companies.
