Security Dispatcher (Armed Response)

From a chair in a vehicle tracking control centre in Sandton, you guide officers in the field to where they are needed. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Sandton-based, with most of your time spent at a vehicle tracking control centre.

• Pull and save video footage for incident investigations
• Track stolen vehicles on the map and guide recovery teams
• Report camera faults and offline sites to the technicians
• Keep call-out times and client passwords up to date
• Dispatch the nearest response vehicle over the radio

• Clear speaking voice on radio and phone
• Good memory for sites, streets and procedures
• Able to stay focused through 12-hour day and night shifts
• Matric
• No criminal convictions (vetting is done before you start)

• Speaking more than one local language
• Experience on a CCTV or alarm monitoring platform
• Call centre work in the past

• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment
• Path to senior controller or supervisor
• Training on the monitoring software
• Shift allowance for nights

• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
• Mention any software you have used: alarm monitoring, CCTV or even call centre systems. Control rooms need people who learn screens fast.
