Security Dispatcher (Armed Response)

From a chair in a vehicle tracking control centre in Welkom, you guide officers in the field to where they are needed. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at a vehicle tracking control centre in Welkom. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Dispatch the nearest response vehicle over the radio
• Monitor live CCTV feeds and zoom in on suspicious movement
• Hand over open incidents clearly at shift change
• Track stolen vehicles on the map and guide recovery teams
• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them
• Pull and save video footage for incident investigations
• Log every event and action on the monitoring software

• Able to stay focused through 12-hour day and night shifts
• No criminal convictions (vetting is done before you start)
• Clear speaking voice on radio and phone
• PSIRA registration, Grade C or higher

• Experience on a CCTV or alarm monitoring platform
• CCTV operator short course

• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment
• Training on the monitoring software
• Shift allowance for nights

• Show you can stay alert at night. If you have done night shift before without problems, say so.
• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
