Job Description

Here your code runs in production, not in a drawer: an insurance company software team in Richards Bay. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is Richards Bay-based, with most of your time spent at an insurance company software team. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

What you'll actually do

Pair with junior developers to unblock them
Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
Write unit and integration tests before you merge
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab

What you need

Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
Experience writing automated tests
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages

Extra points for

Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
