Senior Quantity Surveyor (Civil Projects)

The quantity surveying practice in Mamelodi needs a QS who can price a tender and still defend a final account. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is Mamelodi-based, with most of your time spent at a quantity surveying practice. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
• Prepare the final account at the end of the project
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
• Take off quantities from drawings to build a bill of quantities
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings

• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify
• Code 08 licence for site visits
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work

• Honours degree in Quantity Surveying
• Estimating software experience on top of Excel
• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard

• Travel allowance for site visits
• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Study support for an honours degree

• Recruiters often give a short take-off test. Practise measuring a simple house plan under time pressure before the interview.
• List projects with their contract value and whether you worked for the client side or the contractor side.
