SHE Officer (Contract Mining)

Plan inspections, lead investigations and build a safer shift culture at the gold tailings retreatment operation near Kuruman. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Kuruman-based, with most of your time spent at a gold tailings retreatment operation.

• Check that crews do planned task observations and pre-shift checks
• Train safety representatives and support the health and safety committee
• Review baseline and issue-based risk assessments with section managers
• Track safety statistics like LTIFR and report them each month
• Prepare for inspections by the mine inspector and follow up on instructions
• Take dust, noise and heat measurements with the occupational hygiene team
• Help run emergency drills and check refuge bays

• Detailed knowledge of the MHSA and its regulations
• At least 3 years in a safety role at a mine
• Certificate of fitness to go underground or into the pit
• Confident writing investigation reports and presenting findings

• Standby allowance for incident call-outs
• Retirement fund and medical aid
• CPD and further study funded
• Company vehicle on site

• Mention the commodity and whether you worked underground. Mines prefer someone who knows their hazards.
• Give numbers: how many investigations you led, or how the LTIFR changed in your section.
