SHE Officer (Contract Mining) – Immediate Start

Plan inspections, lead investigations and build a safer shift culture at the deep-level platinum shaft near Polokwane. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is in Polokwane (Limpopo). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Keep legal appointments and code of practice records current
• Take dust, noise and heat measurements with the occupational hygiene team
• Inspect workplaces underground and on surface against the MHSA and the mine's standards
• Track safety statistics like LTIFR and report them each month
• Lead incident investigations using a root cause method

• SAMTRAC or an MQA-accredited mine safety qualification
• At least 3 years in a safety role at a mine
• Confident writing investigation reports and presenting findings
• Code 08 licence for moving around the mine property

• Mine rescue training
• Diploma or degree in Safety Management or Environmental Health

• Retirement fund and medical aid
• Standby allowance for incident call-outs
• Company vehicle on site
• CPD and further study funded

• Mention the commodity and whether you worked underground. Mines prefer someone who knows their hazards.
• Give numbers: how many investigations you led, or how the LTIFR changed in your section.
