Job Description

Animals do not take weekends off, and a cattle feedlot near Gqeberha needs caring, reliable hands. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Location: Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

What you'll actually do

Help the vet with vaccinations and treatments
Feed animals the right ration at the right time
Record births, deaths and treatments in the herd book
Move animals between camps or pens calmly
Clean pens, houses and milking equipment

What you need

Gentle and patient with animals
Follows hygiene and biosecurity rules
Willing to work early mornings, weekends and public holidays on rotation
Reliable, since animals depend on you
South African ID or a legal work permit
Able to live on the farm or close by

Helpful, not essential

Previous dairy or livestock experience
Supervisory experience for foreman roles
Animal health or AgriSETA short course
