Job Description

Night fill, weekends or month-end rush, a neighbourhood supermarket in Cape Town CBD needs extra hands. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll be based at a neighbourhood supermarket in Cape Town CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What you'll actually do

  • Collect trolleys from the parking lot
  • Face products so labels point forward and gaps are filled
  • Visit several stores on a merchandising route and send photos of shelves
  • Help customers find products and carry heavy items to cars
  • Put up price tickets and promotion shelf strips
  • Pack shelves from the back, rotating older stock to the front (first in, first out)

Must-haves

  • Basic reading and maths for price checks
  • Available for weekends, month-end and public holidays
  • Grade 10 or matric
  • Polite with customers and happy to help
  • Honest, since stock losses are checked closely

Helpful, not essential

  • Previous shelf packing or merchandising work
  • Own transport for route merchandising jobs
  • Some till or cash-handling experience

What's in it for you

  • Staff discount on groceries
  • Paid training in store procedures
  • Chance to move into till or department roles
  • Travel allowance on merchandising routes

How to apply for this job

  1. Check you meet the must-haves first; recruiters filter on those before anything else.
  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: CV with the days and times you can work plus matric results or last school report.
  3. Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 8 working days, usually by phone.

Tips to get shortlisted

  • Stores fill weekend and night-fill slots first, so write "available weekends and nights" in your CV summary line.
  • If you have ever sold anything, even at a school tuck shop or a family stall, list it. It shows you are comfortable with customers.
