SHEQ Officer (Building Contractor)

You'll keep the site legal and the workers safe for the high-rise residential project in Lephalale. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is in Lephalale (Limpopo). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Keep appointment letters and competency certificates in the file
• Hold toolbox talks on topics that match the week's work
• Run site inductions for every new worker and visitor
• Audit subcontractor safety files before they start work
• Track PPE issues and replace damaged equipment

• Good understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification
• At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites

• ISO 45001 internal auditor course
• Fall protection planner training

• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD
• Travel and site allowances
• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role

• Bring a sample risk assessment or safety file index you drew up (remove client names). It shows your work better than a list.
• Name the kind of projects you have covered, like roads, housing or wind farms. Clients want sector experience.
