SHEQ Officer (Building Contractor)

Every person goes home in one piece. That is the job on this renewable energy construction site in Sandton. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a renewable energy construction site on the Sandton side of Gauteng. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Run site inductions for every new worker and visitor
• Write and review risk assessments and safe work method statements
• Compile and maintain the site health and safety file under the Construction Regulations 2014
• Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height
• Investigate incidents and near misses and report them on time

• First Aid Level 1 at least
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight
• At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites
• Good understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification

• Experience on renewable energy or high-rise projects
• ISO 45001 internal auditor course

• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role
• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD
• Travel and site allowances

• Put your SACPCMP registration number and category first. Many CVs without it are rejected without being read.
• Bring a sample risk assessment or safety file index you drew up (remove client names). It shows your work better than a list.
