Job Description

Safety files, inspections and toolbox talks: this municipal infrastructure project in Soweto needs someone who can do all three well. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is in Soweto (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily.

The work, day to day

Keep appointment letters and competency certificates in the file
Inspect scaffolds, excavations and edge protection daily
Run site inductions for every new worker and visitor
Hold toolbox talks on topics that match the week's work
Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height
Prepare monthly safety statistics for the client's agent
Audit subcontractor safety files before they start work

Must-haves

Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight
First Aid Level 1 at least
Good understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014
You write clear reports in English

Helpful, not essential

Experience on renewable energy or high-rise projects
Fall protection planner training
