Shutter Hand (Concrete Formwork)

You'll build it with your hands: walls, floors, roofs and finishes on the residential renovation company in Vanderbijlpark. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Location: Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

• Mix mortar and plaster to the right ratio for the job
• Lay face brick and plaster brick to line, level and plumb
• Plaster walls and float them to a smooth, even finish
• Prime and paint walls, ceilings and woodwork in two or three coats
• Clean your tools and sweep your work area before knocking off
• Carry bricks and materials to the workface and keep the scaffold clear
• Cut, bend and tie reinforcing steel to the bending schedule

• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Punctual every morning, even in winter
• Proven experience in at least one trade, shown by references or a practical test

• PPE supplied: hard hat, gloves, reflective vest
• UIF and COIDA registration from day one
• Transport from a pick-up point to site

• Be ready to do a short practical test on site. Arrive early with your own tools if you have them.
• Say which trade you are strongest in first. "Bricklayer, 6 years, face brick" is better than "general construction".
