Site Agent (Civil Works)

Here you run the site: labour, materials, quality and progress for the civil engineering contractor in Bloemfontein. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Location: Bloemfontein, Free State. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Keep the site diary, daily labour returns and plant hours up to date
• Chair the weekly site meeting and record actions for the principal agent
• Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing
• Order concrete, bricks and steel on time so gangs never stand idle
• Measure completed work for monthly payment certificates
• Plan the week's work from the construction programme and brief the gangs each morning
• Set out foundations, grid lines and levels with the surveyor or a dumpy level

• You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
• Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
• Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act

• Surveying skills with a total station
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Manager or Candidate
• Experience on JBCC or GCC 2015 contracts

• Project completion bonus linked to handover date

• Site accommodation on out-of-town projects
