Site Agent (Civil Works)

This road and stormwater contractor in Durban Central needs someone who can read the drawings and get a building out of the ground. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll be based at a road and stormwater contractor in Durban Central. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Plan the week's work from the construction programme and brief the gangs each morning
• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
• Keep the site diary, daily labour returns and plant hours up to date
• Check workmanship against drawings, specifications and SANS 10400
• Book NHBRC and municipal inspections at the right stages

• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
• Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act
• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
• Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
• Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites
• You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
