Site Agent (Civil Works)

You'll run the site day to day for the general building contractor in East London, from setting out to handover. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

The work is in East London, Eastern Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day.

• Run toolbox talks and support the safety officer on Construction Regulations compliance
• Plan the week's work from the construction programme and brief the gangs each morning
• Keep the site diary, daily labour returns and plant hours up to date
• Check workmanship against drawings, specifications and SANS 10400
• Book NHBRC and municipal inspections at the right stages
• Measure completed work for monthly payment certificates
• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection

• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
• Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act
• You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
• Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
• Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool

• Worked on CIDB grade 6 or higher projects
• Concrete technology short course
• Experience on JBCC or GCC 2015 contracts

• Cellphone and laptop supplied
• Vehicle allowance or company bakkie
• Site accommodation on out-of-town projects
• Project completion bonus linked to handover date
