Site Agent (Civil Works)

Here you run the site: labour, materials, quality and progress for the low-cost housing developer in Rosslyn. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

The work is in Rosslyn, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing
• Book NHBRC and municipal inspections at the right stages
• Check workmanship against drawings, specifications and SANS 10400
• Draw up snag lists and close them out before practical completion
• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection

• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
• Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites
• Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
• Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool

• Concrete technology short course
• Surveying skills with a total station

• Vehicle allowance or company bakkie
• Cellphone and laptop supplied
• Project completion bonus linked to handover date

• Mention the contract types you have worked on, like JBCC or GCC. It shows you understand claims and variations.
