Site Foreman (Residential Housing)

This civil engineering contractor in Middelburg (MP) needs someone who can read the drawings and get a building out of the ground. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is in Middelburg (MP) (Mpumalanga). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Draw up snag lists and close them out before practical completion
• Measure completed work for monthly payment certificates
• Run toolbox talks and support the safety officer on Construction Regulations compliance
• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
• Keep the site diary, daily labour returns and plant hours up to date
• Set out foundations, grid lines and levels with the surveyor or a dumpy level

• Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act
• Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
• You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience

• Surveying skills with a total station
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Manager or Candidate

• Project completion bonus linked to handover date
• Vehicle allowance or company bakkie
• Site accommodation on out-of-town projects
• Cellphone and laptop supplied

• Mention the contract types you have worked on, like JBCC or GCC. It shows you understand claims and variations.
