Site Labourer (Concrete Crew)

Strong, willing hands are wanted on a low-cost housing development in Potchefstroom. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at a low-cost housing development in Potchefstroom. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
• Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
• Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines
• Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
• Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts

• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
• A clean record is preferred for some government sites
• Grade 8 or higher
• Willing to start early, often at 06:30

• Some experience with a jackhammer, grinder or plate compactor
• Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)
• Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database

• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site

• If a foreman can vouch for you, put their number on your CV. Site hiring runs on word of mouth.
• List past sites by name and what you did there, like "mixed concrete, laid kerbs". It proves you have done real site work.
