Job Description

You'll mix, carry, dig and clean up so the tradespeople on a road rehabilitation project in Vereeniging can keep building. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

Location: Vereeniging, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

The work, day to day

Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches

You'll need

Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
Grade 8 or higher
You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
A clean record is preferred for some government sites

Extra points for

Some experience with a jackhammer, grinder or plate compactor
A working-at-heights or scaffolding ticket
Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)
