Site Manager (Retail Construction) – Immediate Start

This road and stormwater contractor in Khayelitsha needs someone who can read the drawings and get a building out of the ground. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is Khayelitsha-based, with most of your time spent at a road and stormwater contractor. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Order concrete, bricks and steel on time so gangs never stand idle
• Book NHBRC and municipal inspections at the right stages
• Plan the week's work from the construction programme and brief the gangs each morning
• Set out foundations, grid lines and levels with the surveyor or a dumpy level
• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
• Draw up snag lists and close them out before practical completion

• Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
• Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
• Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites

• Experience on JBCC or GCC 2015 contracts
• Worked on CIDB grade 6 or higher projects
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Manager or Candidate

• Site accommodation on out-of-town projects
• Vehicle allowance or company bakkie
• Cellphone and laptop supplied
• Project completion bonus linked to handover date
