Site Manager (Retail Construction) – Permanent

Here you run the site: labour, materials, quality and progress for the low-cost housing developer in Mokopane. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll report in Mokopane. Relocation is not covered for this one. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Measure completed work for monthly payment certificates
• Order concrete, bricks and steel on time so gangs never stand idle
• Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing
• Run toolbox talks and support the safety officer on Construction Regulations compliance
• Keep the site diary, daily labour returns and plant hours up to date
• Plan the week's work from the construction programme and brief the gangs each morning

• You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
• Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
• Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool

• Concrete technology short course
• Experience on JBCC or GCC 2015 contracts
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Manager or Candidate

• Site accommodation on out-of-town projects
• Cellphone and laptop supplied
• Vehicle allowance or company bakkie

• If you have SACPCMP registration, put the number and category under your name.
• A common mistake is listing only company names. Say what you built, for example "32 walk-up flats, 3 storeys".
