Site Manager (Retail Construction)

Keep the programme on track, the subbies busy and the site safe for the retail and commercial builder in Rustenburg. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is in Rustenburg (North West). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Keep the site diary, daily labour returns and plant hours up to date
• Draw up snag lists and close them out before practical completion
• Order concrete, bricks and steel on time so gangs never stand idle
• Set out foundations, grid lines and levels with the surveyor or a dumpy level
• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
• Measure completed work for monthly payment certificates
• Book NHBRC and municipal inspections at the right stages

• Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
• Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites
• Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience

• Surveying skills with a total station
• Experience on JBCC or GCC 2015 contracts

• Site accommodation on out-of-town projects
• Project completion bonus linked to handover date
• Vehicle allowance or company bakkie
• Cellphone and laptop supplied
