Site Safety Officer (Civil Projects)

You'll keep the site legal and the workers safe for the municipal infrastructure project in Somerset West. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a municipal infrastructure project in Somerset West. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height
• Hold toolbox talks on topics that match the week's work
• Run site inductions for every new worker and visitor
• Investigate incidents and near misses and report them on time
• Write and review risk assessments and safe work method statements
• Prepare monthly safety statistics for the client's agent

• First Aid Level 1 at least
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification
• You write clear reports in English
• At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer

• Laptop and data for reporting
• Travel and site allowances
• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD
• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role

• Name the kind of projects you have covered, like roads, housing or wind farms. Clients want sector experience.
