Site Safety Officer (Civil Projects)

Safety files, inspections and toolbox talks: this road construction project in Tzaneen needs someone who can do all three well. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

This post is Tzaneen-based, with most of your time spent at a road construction project. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Run site inductions for every new worker and visitor
• Prepare monthly safety statistics for the client's agent
• Inspect scaffolds, excavations and edge protection daily
• Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height
• Write and review risk assessments and safe work method statements
• Track PPE issues and replace damaged equipment

• You write clear reports in English
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer
• First Aid Level 1 at least

• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role
• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD

• Put your SACPCMP registration number and category first. Many CVs without it are rejected without being read.
• Bring a sample risk assessment or safety file index you drew up (remove client names). It shows your work better than a list.
