Solar PV Installation Electrician

The shopfitting and retail fit-out firm in Coega needs a qualified electrician who can work neatly and sign off safe installations. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

The work is in Coega, Eastern Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment
• Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
• Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site
• Run conduit, trunking and cable tray on new builds and renovations
• Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls

• Valid Code 08 driver's licence
• Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces
• Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
• Electrical trade test certificate (Section 13 or 26D) through a QCTO-accredited centre

• Solar PV installation training and experience with hybrid inverters
• PLC and motor control experience from a factory setting
• Working at Heights certificate still in date

• Company-issued test instruments, calibrated every year
• Company bakkie for call-outs and travel between sites
• Provident fund and group risk cover after probation
• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekends

• Put your registration category (IE, MIE or single-phase tester) and registration number right under your name on the CV.
• List two or three recent jobs with sizes, like a 60-point house rewire or a 10 kVA inverter install. It shows your level quickly.
