Solar PV Installation Electrician

The food processing plant in Pietermaritzburg needs a qualified electrician who can work neatly and sign off safe installations. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll be based at a food processing plant in Pietermaritzburg. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Fault-find tripping circuits with a multimeter, insulation tester and loop tester
• Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1
• Test installations and issue Certificates of Compliance where your registration allows
• Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls
• Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site
• Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment

• Valid Code 08 driver's licence
• Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
• Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
• Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces
• At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test
• Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes

• PLC and motor control experience from a factory setting
• Solar PV installation training and experience with hybrid inverters

• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekends
• Company bakkie for call-outs and travel between sites
• Company-issued test instruments, calibrated every year

• List two or three recent jobs with sizes, like a 60-point house rewire or a 10 kVA inverter install. It shows your level quickly.
