Solar PV Installation Electrician – Permanent

The shopfitting and retail fit-out firm in Randburg needs a qualified electrician who can work neatly and sign off safe installations. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is Randburg-based, with most of your time spent at a shopfitting and retail fit-out firm. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Fault-find tripping circuits with a multimeter, insulation tester and loop tester
• Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
• Replace faulty light fittings, plugs, geyser elements and thermostats
• Test installations and issue Certificates of Compliance where your registration allows
• Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1
• Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls
• Quote small jobs for clients and explain the fault in plain language

• Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
• Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
• At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test

• PLC and motor control experience from a factory setting
• Master Installation Electrician registration for three-phase CoCs
• Working at Heights certificate still in date

• Provident fund and group risk cover after probation
• Company-issued test instruments, calibrated every year
• Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster

• List two or three recent jobs with sizes, like a 60-point house rewire or a 10 kVA inverter install. It shows your level quickly.
• Put your registration category (IE, MIE or single-phase tester) and registration number right under your name on the CV.
