Job Description

Big machines, long days in season: a wheat farm near Coega needs a skilled operator. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a wheat farm on the Coega side of Eastern Cape.

The work, day to day

Record hours, fuel and fields worked on the job card
Plant rows straight, using GPS guidance where the tractor has it
Check oil, water, tyres and grease points before starting
Operate combine harvesters during harvest season
Clear firebreaks and grade farm roads when needed

You'll need

Willing to work long hours in planting and harvest seasons
At least 2 years driving tractors on a farm
Safe driver who respects chemical and machine safety
Reliable and sober on duty
Basic understanding of implements and settings

Nice if you have

A pesticide application or spray course
Basic mechanical skills
Experience with GPS guidance or auto-steer

What's in it for you

Training on new machinery
Farm housing with water and electricity
Harvest bonus at season end

Applying, step by step

Check you meet the must-haves first; recruiters filter on those before anything else.
Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): a farmer's reference letter with phone number plus ID copy and any driver's licence you hold.
Send your details with the form below. Add one or two lines about similar work you've done.
Watch for a call or WhatsApp from How2Apply over the next 5 working days.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Coega.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

Before you hit apply

List the machines you can drive and the implements you have used. Farmers want to know if you can plant, spray or harvest on day one.
Mention GPS or auto-steer if you have used it. Modern grain farms struggle to find operators who know it.
