Staff Nurse (Night Shift)

A retirement village frail care centre in Bloemfontein needs someone kind and reliable to look after patients who can't manage alone. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is in Bloemfontein (Free State). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Keep families updated on routine matters and pass clinical questions to the sister
• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected
• Turn bed-bound patients on schedule and check pressure areas for early sores
• Spot confusion, falls risk or changes in mood and tell the nurse in charge

• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care
• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people
• SANC enrolment as an Enrolled Nurse or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary for nursing posts
• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate

• Code B or Code 8 driver's licence for home visits
• A second South African language spoken by the patients you'll serve

• Uniform supplied
• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities
• Overtime paid at time and a half

• Name the type of patients you've cared for, such as stroke patients or dementia residents, in your first CV line.
• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
