Stope Team Leader (Platinum Mine)

Underground, the miner sets the pace and the safety standard. This deep-level gold mine near Mokopane needs that person. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is Mokopane-based, with most of your time spent at a deep-level gold mine. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Clear the area, post guards and blast on time as the blasting certificate allows
• Test for flammable gas and check ventilation before and after blasting
• Book explosives in and out of the magazine and keep the register accurate
• Bar down loose rock and install support to the section's support standard
• Charge up holes and connect initiation systems for the blast

• Valid blasting certificate issued under the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Sound knowledge of your commodity's mining method and support standards
• Able to lead a crew of 8 to 20 people in a language they understand
• Grade 12 or equivalent, plus the MQA-accredited miner training
• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station, including heat tolerance screening where required
• No serious safety transgressions in your record

• Rock engineering or ventilation short courses
• Shift Supervisor certificate or Mine Overseer learning
• Experience in trackless mechanised sections

• Medical aid and mine medical station access
• Pension fund with employer contributions
• Underground allowance for every shift below surface
• Production bonus based on metres or square metres achieved

• Write your blasting certificate number and date of issue near the top of the CV.
• List each mine, commodity and mining method on your CV, like "conventional stoping, platinum, 4 years".
