Stope Team Leader (Platinum Mine)

This mechanised hard-rock mine near Secunda needs a miner who makes every workplace safe before a single hole is drilled. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

The site is in Secunda; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Clear the area, post guards and blast on time as the blasting certificate allows
• Charge up holes and connect initiation systems for the blast
• Stop work when a condition is unsafe, using your right to withdraw
• Record face advance, tons broken and support installed on the shift report
• Mark off drilling holes to the standard pattern and check the drilling
• Do the early entry examination and make the workplace safe before the crew enters

• Grade 12 or equivalent, plus the MQA-accredited miner training
• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station, including heat tolerance screening where required
• Sound knowledge of your commodity's mining method and support standards
• At least 3 years underground, with at least 1 as a certificated miner
• No serious safety transgressions in your record

• Rock engineering or ventilation short courses
• First aid certificate current
• Experience in trackless mechanised sections
