Job Description

This civil engineering consultancy in Bellville needs someone who can check a design and then go and check it was built right. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Home base is a civil engineering consultancy on the Bellville side of Western Cape. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

The work, day to day

Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
Write design reports and handover documents
Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162
Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue

What you need

Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering

Nice if you have

Experience on public sector infrastructure projects
Registration with SAICE and active CPD
