Structural Engineer (Buildings)

You'll design and supervise infrastructure people use every day, with the road agency project office in Sandton. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Location: Sandton, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
• Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
• Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
• Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
• Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
• Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
• Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals

• BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
• Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
• Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
• Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate

• Experience on public sector infrastructure projects
• Registration with SAICE and active CPD
• Master's degree in structural or water engineering
