Structural Steel Detailer (Tekla)

Good with CAD and serious about accuracy? This engineering design office in Kathu could use you. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is in Kathu (Northern Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Follow SANS 10111 drawing conventions and the office title block standard
• Draft civil layouts, longitudinal sections and cross sections for services
• Prepare electrical single line diagrams and cable routing drawings
• Check shop drawings from subcontractors against design drawings
• Model steel structures in Tekla and produce shop drawings and cutting lists

• Advanced skills in AutoCAD plus one 3D package
• Able to read engineers' mark-ups and ask the right questions
• National Diploma or N6 in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering, or a draughting qualification
• Neat and accurate, with a habit of checking your own work
• Good time planning when several projects need drawings at once
• Understanding of engineering drawing standards and tolerances

• Latest CAD software licences
• Two-screen workstation
• Hybrid work once you are settled in

• Remove client names and logos from sample drawings. Recruiters notice if you share confidential work.
• List the software versions you use daily. Firms want to know you can start without training.
