Job Description

When a panic button goes off in a farming district in Durban Central, you are the one who arrives first. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is Durban Central-based, with most of your time spent at a farming district. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

What your day looks like

Give first aid at an incident until paramedics take over
Visit clients for key-holder checks and open-up requests
Search the property perimeter and check doors, windows and gates
Secure a scene until SAPS arrives and hand over details
Do vehicle checks: tyres, fuel, lights and siren

You'll need

Valid Code 8 or Code 10 licence with at least 2 years driving
At least 2 years in guarding or response
Able to work 12-hour rotating shifts
SAPS firearm competency certificate for handguns (and shotgun if required)
Calm under pressure and physically fit
Clean criminal record and no pending cases

Nice if you have

First-aid Level 2 or 3
Knowledge of the local streets and sectors
SAPS, SANDF or reservist background
